Polish is a language of the Lechitic subgroup of West Slavic languages in the Indo-European family. The most ancient written record in Polish is a Bogurodzica religious anthem which became a state anthem of Poland a while later. Legend has it that its author was St.Adalbert (Wojciech) living in the 10th century.
